About CBW

Core Bodyworks was conceived and opened in Marietta, GA in 1999, by Lisa Browning.   Since 2004 the studio occupies one of the buildings listed on the Historic Register in downtown Acworth.  This space allows for all of the Pilates equipment along with a large open area used for Yoga and Tai Chi, with a separate office and waiting room.

Body, mind and breath could be the phrase that best describes the focus of all of the disciplines taught and practiced at CBW.  Anatomical research as well as ancient foundational principles of yoga and tai chi, back up the theory that your core, as well as your life force, is only attained through proper breathing.  The work of Pilates also bears the same principles, as the “core” is your main focus.

jesse and the yoginisMassage Therapy is also offered at CBW.  Lisa began 24 years ago as a recognized therapist in the Atlanta area, running Sports Massage Therapy Associates for over 10 years.  She still works with many runners and triathletes, some of whom are also training clientele.

We currently have two therapists on staff; Lisa and Kelly Crider, both of whom are licensed through the State of Georgia and teach continuing education in hands on and movement therapy.

The Pilates Method Alliance recognized CBW as a training facility for the Pilates Method, and two groups of students have completed 600 hr. training/apprenticeships.  CBW has been recognized as a Registered Yoga School-200hr. by the Yoga Alliance since 2010.  There have been three groups of yoga instructors graduating this program to date.

The studio and their instructors (please read their bios) strive to make the space a “wellness center”, offering courses for diverse groups, bringing community together, and providing balanced approaches to wellness, fitness and education.
