Core Bodyworks

The studio was established in Marietta GA, by Lisa Browning in 1999. With over 40 years of combined experience in the health and fitness industry, the focus of the studio is to learn and share the study of movement.  The Pilates system, many types of Yoga, and Tai Chi form the basis for the classes, private and therapy sessions.   Lisa, along with all of the instructors, continue forward thinking approaches to physical change, injury prevention and balance through a mind/body centered system.  The staff stays sharp with continuing education courses and associations with professionals and master teachers in these fields.

With a background begun in college, Lisa has been studying the body, and movement for over 30 years.  Competitive triathlons and running brought her to massage therapy, Pilates and Yoga.  As a massage therapist helping other athletes, she looked for a way to understand and help the body accomplish physical goals and create wellness.  She is a certified personal trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine, trained by a student of Joseph Pilates to teach his Method, and a E-RYT 500 hr. Yoga Alliance recognized instructor.  While yoga is integral to her lifestyle; Lisa finds joy in trail running and competing and playing at SUP (stand up paddle boarding).  Whether you take her yoga class, Core Functional Training, or are trained personally by Lisa, there will be a strong focus on working on your weaknesses, following a mind, body, spirit approach and “play”.

Shannon Kennedy

In my experience of yoga, the physical challenge of the postures, plus the mental discipline of regulating the breath, take me to my most treasured place: the present. I study and practice yoga to learn to live life one breath, one moment at a time. The ashtanga yoga primary series is a moving meditation. Through that movement mental stillness can be glimpsed. My mother introduced me to yoga when I was a teenager. I took my first ashtanga class in 2005, and recognized it immediately as the missing piece to my life; even in the beginning when I thought I'd die if the teacher said "and take a vinyasa" one more time! I've studied with Manju Jois, David WilIiams, Doug Swenson and Kathryn Budig. I received my 200RYT in 2011. I try to practice and teach yoga with a light heart and from a place of equanimity. My dedicated practice has evolved over seven years. I have a degree in philosophy and love the theory, but it only strengthens my belief that I need only to "practice and all is coming."
